I recently read an article on the online version of share-christmas.com and it talks about the different traditions at chrismas in every country of the world.Basically what the text says is that christmas trees aren't everywhere.

Now i would like to tell you something about three countries and their christmas tree traditions. In Europe, most people take a tree to symbolize the rebirth of Jesus. The fir tree is being decorated on december the 24th for the holy evening. In Agypt, most people take palm trees to show the life triumphs against the death. The Americans have the same tradition like in Europe, they take also a fir tree and decorate them but sometimes they exaggerate.

To my mind, fir trees will be beautyful if you don't exaggerate with the decoration. Finally, I couldn't imagine to have a palm tree in the house.

I read an article the other day on Austrian Times and it talks about Sat 1 Austria.

I thought you might be interested because you may watch the TV-channel Sat1.

Basically what it says is that the television-channel has the top market share since the football-night on september the 17th of 2009. It is said that 406.000 people had watched the second half of the Europa League between Rapid Vienna and Hamburger SV (3-0). The match was broadcasted live by Sat 1 Austria.
Before Sat 1 Austria cut the record, the television-channel RTL held the world record with 634.000 viewers, who watched "Wer wird Millionär".

What surprised me most is the fact that the match of two not so famous teams had the biggest number of viewers and for example not the champions league final 2008 between Manchester United and Barcelona (0-2).

To my mind, Sat 1 Austria is going to increase there market share because of the replay between this two teams.

I've chosen this topic because today is the replay in Hamburg.

Flora (Ireland):

Flora said that she looked forward to see the Austrian way of life. She also said that she learnt very much about her own country and culture too. What she surprised was the law in Austria because in Ireland, it's not allowed to smoke in public places. Her opinion is that the lifestyle between Austria and Ireland is very different. All in all, Flora likes Austria.

I've just read an article on Austriantimes an it talks about pensionists in Austria.

Basically what it says is that pensionists get a special cheap rate for there mobile phone.

An Austrian mobile phone provider has launched a special cheap rate service for OAPs. T-Mobile launched the offer with the Hartlauer chain. It allows pensionists to make calls free to T-Mobile costumers and landline numbers and there is no basic fee. Hartlauer is also offering the free "Emporia Life Plus" mobile phone with the offer which is open to people aged 65 and older.

To my mind, it's an very good idea of T-Mobile. Elder people are getting more flexible. It can often be very bad if elder people have no mobile phone because it is very difficult to reach them and the new "Emporia life plus" is very simple to use.

I've just read an article on www.austriantimes.com and it talks about Marco Arnautovic. Marco Arnautovic is a soccerplayer and the Youngstar of Austria. In Season 2008/09, he was playing for Twente Entschede.

Basically what it says is that the famous italian football club Inter Mailand has given up an offer for him. A transfer to Inter of Austrian football star Marko Arnautovic is getting more likely, the youngstar underwents the medical checks in Mailand today. Marco Arnautovic scored 12 goals in 42 games. At the moment, Arnautovic is injured because he has a stress fracture in his leg but the deal will take place.

What surprised me most is that insiders have given Arnautovic good chances to make the starting eleven at the Serie A because there are any very good forwards in Inter Mailand.

In my opinion, I'm very glad about the transfer because it's very rare that an Austrian soccerplayer plays by a club like Inter. This is also an advantage for the Austrian nationalteam.

I've just read an article on Austriantimes and it alks about the new ski-suit. Austrian former ski world champion Harry Egger is hoping to be given wings to beat the world record in speed skiing with a new futuristic suit sponsored by Red Bull. With this suit, a speed of 250 km/h can be reached. The current world-record held by Frenchman Philippe Goitschel with 250.70 kilometres per hour.

The suit will cost more than 42.000 pounds. Egger said that this material is unbeatable.

I thought you might be interested in because Austria is very popular for skiing.

In my opinion, i hope it that Harry Egger will beat the world record of Philippe Goitschel and take the record to austria.

I've just read an article on Austriantimes and it talks a funny action. A 51-year old tried to steal a cruise sheep, the "Sonnenkönigin", after a party. The police tells that the man was drunk. After the police caught the 51-year-old, he said that his dream is to be a captain of a cruise sheep. Now he is undergoing psychiatric tests.

I think you might be interested in because it's a funny story.

What interested me most was that the man had the idea to try a cruise sheep.

As for me, I wouldn't be able to get a idea like this but all in all, a very funny story.

I've just read an article at the internet on Austriantimes and it talks about Red Bull Cola. I thought you might be interested because Red Bull is a brand of Austria.

Basically what it says is that in five German provinces Red Bull Cola has been banned after finding traces of cocaine in the drink.
It also says that you can't become addicted to th drink, but added that furthher steps were being considered.

In my opinion, I don't care about this because I don't drink Red Bull Cola. Besides, if there is only a few of cocain in it, it won't damage you.

Long time ago, we wrote something about dress codes.

I have just read an article on Manuel Lemps blog and it talks about dress codes.

Basically what it says is that most pupils and students from Great Britain or America have to wear school uniforms. Mr. Lemp tells us at his block about the advantages and disadvantages of dress codes.
For example dress codes are an advantage for poor families because they don't have to buy other clothes for their children.

What surprised me most was the fact that he is against dress codes. I thought that he were neutral.

I agree with the author on what he says about dress codes. Wearing the same cltothes and not the clothes what you like every day, is a stupid rule. Pupils and students would be much happier, if they could wear their own clothes and show their own style.

Dress Codes

At schools where pupils wear school uniforms, there are no differences between poor and rich. They are not as expensive as „normal clothes“, because you have to wear the same every day. At schools, where pupils wear no school uniforms, it can be very expensive. Maybe you buy every month two or three new clothes, this would be very expensive. School uniforms reduce stress at school because everybody looks like the same.

The biggest disadvantage of school uniforms is that everybody looks like the same. I would get crazy.

To my mind, dress codes are not necessary, but if you live in a poor village, school uniforms are a good measure.

St. Patricks Day

St. Patrick's Day is a feast day which celebrates Saint Patrick (385–461), one of the patron saints of Ireland. This day is celebrated on March 17 th . Today, it's a bank holiday in Northern Ireland and a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland and Montserrat. In Canada, Great Britain, Australia, the United States and New Zealand, St. Patricks Day is celebrated but is not an official holiday. It became a feast day in the Roman Catholic Churche in the early part of the 17th century and it is a holy day for Roman Catholics in Ireland. If St. Patrick’s Day is on a holy day like Palm Sunday like in the year 2008, it is celebrated on March 15th.

Everybody who celebrates is dressed green and drinks a lot of alcohol and there is also a lot of Irish music in pubs. On St. Patrick’s Day there is nearly everything in the colour green. For example, beer, clothes, hair and so on. In some areas there are rivers painted in green only for one day.

Do you like to watch a video about a celebration on St. Patricks day?
